Although
i had come from a family with blue blood in
their veins it
took a couple of goes before i got into a
Ford. My first ride was a
Mazda 808 which i mucked around with while
doing an apprenticeship in spray painting.
I then moved onto an LC Torana sedan which
was absolutely mint with
only 68,000 genuine miles and then onto a
pretty neat VH SL/E Commodore.
Then i got bitten by the GT bug and flicked
the Commodore and
started searching. My first Gt was a nice
Red Pepper XAGT sedan and
although wasn't that original it was still
a GT and i was stoked. In
this time i enjoyed the XA, taking it on various
club runs and weekend cruises. I had the XA
for a couple of years when i decided to move
onto bigger and better things.
The
search then started again for an XWGT and
it had to be a
Clevo/Top Loader combination. I had looked
at a lot of cars but none
were really what i wanted until i stumbled
across an ad in the Trading
Post for a Track Red Clevo/4spd car. The phone
call was made and after
a couple of inspections a deal was struck
and the car was mine.
I
am the 6th owner of the car and I am happy
to say that most of the car is in unrestored
condition and apparently one of only four
Track Red/Saddle/4spd combos out of the 19
GT's that were made in Track Red.
The
car does not have any unusual options except
the 16 Gallon tank and the dealer fitted Fairmont
wheel arch moulds and fender ornaments. Since
owning the car it has taken out various awards
at club events.
All i have done to the car is detail it and
enjoy it!!!!
The
bug bit again in early 2004 when i purchased
my third GT, an Apollo Blue XBGT sedan which
i am currently restoring to its former glory.
